Acacia Academics

Acacia

A Quick Overview

Acacia Academics has been a long-standing ministry of Alliance Bible Church since 2009. For 15+ years, Acacia Academics has provided thousands of volunteer hours to hundreds of students from Ozaukee County, Washington County, and other neighboring areas by providing free academic support, career readiness, and life mentoring opportunities.
The acacia tree has been used for various purposes throughout history. However, its use for public gatherings to teach and share stories among communities is what makes this tree significant to us. Our vision is “Helping students grow in academics and character,” and we accomplish this by providing free mentoring to middle and high school students. Our program seeks to create a ripple effect of service within our community by providing opportunities for students, families, and individuals to make an impact.

At Acacia Academics, we endeavor to:

Demonstrate, through our words and actions, God’s love and our faith in Jesus Christ.
Develop students in the areas of academics, career/life readiness, and character growth.
Come alongside parents, teachers, and students in the shared mission of working toward academic excellence.

If you are interested in volunteering with us as a mentor, please connect with us and fill out the mentor registration form.

When are sessions and for how long?

Our program is offered Monday-Thursday beginning at 2:30pm. Sessions are only an hour long and can be scheduled in the afternoon at 2:30pm – 6pm. You can select your preferred meeting time(s) when filling out a student or mentor registration form.

Who are the mentors and what subjects are offered?

Our mentors are diverse, but many of our volunteers are engineers, retired educators, or even high-achieving high school students. Mentors are passionate about helping students grow in academics & character. Some popular subjects for mentoring needs have been math, science, literature and Spanish but we encourage anyone with a specific need to let us know and we’ll try our best to find a mentor to pair you with!

Is it really free to attend, and is every student guaranteed a mentor?

YES! Our program is really FREE. We are thankful to be able to offer this service for free to our families and students in our community. While we can’t promise a mentor for every student, we try very hard to match students to mentors who are skilled in the area requested and have availability in their schedule.
